CSUB On The Road At Idaho, Eastern Washington



BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield women's soccer is on the road after a pair of one-goal losses at home over the weekend. The Roadrunners are in search of their first win as they trek into University of Idaho and Eastern Washington University territory on Friday and Sunday, respectively. 
 
Bakersfield and Idaho are scheduled to kick-off at 6:00 p.m. while the Eagles match is set for an 11:00 a.m. start. Both contests will be streamed live on ESPN+.
 
CSUB lost 1-0 against Azusa Pacific on Friday, and again by the same spread in loss against Fresno State on Sunday to close the weekend 0-2-1.
 
Head coach Sebastian Vecchio said, "The last two games gave us things to work on, we went back to the training ground and adjusted some things. Looking forward to seeing the growth of our team over the next 4 days."
 
"We had a good week of training, and we are ready to face some tough competition on the road," he added.
 
Angelica Hurtado is the first and only Roadrunner to crack the goal column. Her strike came off a penalty in the 35th minute to tie the match at Sacramento State.
 
Goalkeeping duties have been assigned to freshman Flavia Burrell in the first three games. She has made a career-high eight save and six on two other occasions.
 
Bakersfield leads in the match series with Idaho, 5-2. Idaho recorded their first win at the Main Soccer Field in the last meeting on August 25, 2019.
 
The Vandals are 2-1 and return home, after wins at North Dakota State and North Dakota and a loss at Oregon State. Idaho has three goal scorers on the season averaging one goal a game.
 
Eastern Washington is without a win after losses against Gonzaga, Arkansas State, and Washington State. Taylor Matheny leads EWU in shot attempts with four.
 
The Eagles lead the series' history, 5-2-2.  CSUB came up short one goal in a 3-2 loss against EWU on September 6, 2019. Dome Rodriguez and Darian Tatum each had an assist on goal in the contest.
 
Bakersfield women's soccer is at Saint Mary's  following the weekend, before returning home for a game against Gonzaga then going back on the road for a pair of contests before Big West Conference action at home on September 26.
