CSUB Set for Final Tune Up in Washington

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – An action-packed weekend lies ahead for the CSU Bakersfield volleyball team as the Roadrunners are headed north, Sept. 17-18, for the Eastern Washington Tournament in Cheney, Wash. CSUB will play three matches over two days before returning to Bakersfield to prepare for its first-ever Big West Conference matches.

"We have a big weekend ahead of us especially because this is the last weekend before we start conference play," said Giovana Melo, CSUB's Director of Volleyball. "The group is excited to go compete and continue to get better."

Bakersfield's schedule this weekend features two matches on Friday, Sept. 17, and one final match on Saturday, Sept. 18. The `Runners (5-1) will face off against an old Western Athletic Conference foe in Seattle U (3-7) before clashing with tournament host Eastern Washington (3-3) Friday evening. On Saturday, the `Runners will battle the Montana Grizzlies (5-4) in the squad's last non-conference game of the season.

Seattle U is coming off a 2-1 finish at New Mexico's tournament last weekend, including a 3-0 sweep over CSUB's fellow Big West member UC San Diego. EWU had last week off after finishing 2-1 in a trio of matches in Texas the week prior. Montana went 3-0 at the UND Classic in Grand Forks, N.D. last week, outlasting two of its opponents in five sets.

Friday evening's match against EWU at 6 p.m. (PT) will be broadcasted live on ESPN+ while fans can follow along with live stats for the other two matches. Links to the broadcast, live stats, and more info are available at the CSUB volleyball schedule page.
