Swim Teams Earn Academic Honors

Bakersfield, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams have once again earned Academic All-American scholar programs by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America. The CSCAA list honors programs around the country who earned cumulative Fall 2020 grade point averages of 3.0 or better.

"Chris Hansen continued to lead his teams to academic success despite an incredibly difficult year," noted CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart. "These are some of the best ambassadors of CSU Bakersfield, and Dr. Kenneth Siegfried, Dr. Thomas Wallace, and Dr. Roy Lafever can and should be proud of these young men and women."

The Roadrunner women earned the honor for the eighth-consecutive semester, accumulating a team GPA of 3.55. Twenty-one female student-athletes earned Dean's List recognition, while Autumn D'Arcy, Hannah Marsh, Lucy Peltz, Ariane Skeggs and Maya Valdoria each earned perfect 4.0's for the semester.

Bakersfield's men posted a 3.22 GPA, with 10 individual student-athletes earning Dean's List honors. Senior Noah Hickman posted a 4.00 and graduated with his undergraduate degree in criminal justice this spring.

"This was a difficult year mentally for all of our student-athletes," said Hansen, CSUB's Director of Swimming. "I'm thoroughly impressed by their continued focus and dedication to their education."

The men's program boasts the current highest cumulative GPA of all CSUB male athletic programs with a 3.12, while the women sport a cumulative GPA of 3.47.
