CSUB Heads to Vegas For Big West Championships

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield women's basketball joins eight other Big West Conference schools in Vegas this week as each program vies for an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Only one team will cut down the net on Saturday and advance.

UC Davis is seeded first with the best league record, 9-1. The Aggies are one of two teams CSUB did not play during the regular season but will have to get past in order to advance to the championship.

No. 8 UC Riverside and No. 9 Cal State Fullerton kick off the tournament on Tuesday with the lone first round matchup at 12 PM. Davis will take on the winner at 11 AM on Wednesday.

Bakersfield earned the fourth seed, despite conference coaches and media predicting the Roadrunners would finish eighth. CSUB sees fifth seeded Hawai'i on Wednesday at 2 PM.

On the other side of the bracket is second and seventh seed UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara who face off at 5 PM on Wednesday before No. 3 Long Beach State and No. 6 Cal Poly close the night at 8 PM.

ESPN3 will cover the entire tournament from first round to championship.

More information on the bracket is available on the Big West Conference website, here.
