Spider-Man to Help `Runners Fend Off Vandals

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield men's basketball team will enjoy the comforts of the Icardo Center one more time this week before heading back out on the road. The Roadrunners are set to welcome the Idaho Vandals to Bakersfield on Saturday, Dec. 11, for a 7 p.m. (PT) tipoff.

`Runner fans will be treated to a special visit before the game as Spider-Man will be patrolling the Icardo Center, looking for any misbehaving Vandals and sending model citizens home with photo-booth snapshots. While Peter Parker will help keep fans safe, the `Runners will be busy on the court, fending off the Vandals on their own.

"Idaho is a dangerous team because they have really good guard play," said Rod Barnes, Head Coach of the `Runners. "They have guys that come off the bench that can really shoot the ball…They are talented and they are a well-coached team. They have got some good players, so we're going to have to be ready for this Saturday."

Barnes went on to talk about his team's progress through the first several games of the season: "I think some of our guys are starting to figure out their teammates. We're figuring out who we are as a team overall. I'm selling into positions, which helps us with chemistry. I think our guys are finding their roles and starting to figure out how they can best benefit our team."

CSUB and Idaho have enjoyed a rich history with several recent meetings going down to the wire. Bakersfield holds a slim, 6-5 advantage in the all-time series with Idaho. The Vandals enjoyed most of the early success, but the `Runners have won four of the last five matchups. In the last six meetings, neither team has won by more than an 11-point margin with four single-digit victories along the way, so fans can expect a tough battle on the Valley Strong Court.

Tickets are available ahead of time for Saturday's contest at GoRunners.com/Tickets. Fans can also come out to Icardo Center at 1 p.m. (PT) on Saturday and purchase a ticket to support the `Runner women as they take on cross-valley rival Fresno State. Those who cannot attend in person can follow along live on ESPN+. Links to the broadcasts – both video and radio – live stats, tickets, and more can be found at GoRunners.com/Live.
