BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - CSU Bakersfield women's basketball's Big West Conference opener at Cal State Fullerton (12/30) will not be played as scheduled due to COVID-19 protocols within the Titans' program.
Bakersfield's team-related activities will continue with focus shifted to the next Big West opponent on the women's slate, Long Beach State (1/1).
Saturday's contest will mark 21 days since the Roadrunners (1-7) have played after dropping their last non-conference match up against Fresno State on Saturday, Dec. 11 and cancellations at UCLA (12/21) and now Fullerton (12/30).
It will have been 19 days since Long Beach State (7-1) has seen the hardwood ahead of their Big West opener against Cal Poly (12/30), coming off a pair of cancelled home games due to COVID-19 protocols within The Beach program.
With the all-time series currently tied a win on Saturday would give either team the series edge. In the last conference series between CSUB and LBSU a year ago, the Roadrunners were left with a bitter taste having been swept in the Icardo Center by the visitors. With a fresh outlook now in a new season, Bakersfield has sights on taking the league by storm – one game at a time.
Tip-off on New Year Day at Long Beach State is set for a 4 p.m. start in the Walter Pyramid. Fans who plan on attending in-person can purchase tickets here while those planning to watch live on ESPN+ can find the watch link here.
