BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield women's golf team has taken another step toward future success as Head Coach Tiffanie Yabut announced the addition of a new Roadrunner on Thursday. Yasmin Guerrero has agreed to transfer from Bakersfield College to CSUB this spring and begin competing with the `Runners immediately.
"We are excited to have Yasmin join our program this spring," Yabut said of the newest `Runner. "To have someone of her caliber and dedication who has been competing at the collegiate level will add to the championship culture we are building. We are excited to see what she will accomplish during her time here!"
Currently a sophomore at Bakersfield College, Guerrero started her collegiate career off with a solid set of performances this Fall. During Western State Conference play, she posted a low round of 76 despite not playing the final day due to inclement weather. Guerrero went on to place fourth overall in the CCCAA SoCal Regionals, shooting 79 and 75 on the tournament.
Qualifying for the junior college State Tournament as an individual, Guerrero placed Top 10 at the Championships. Her ninth-place finish came on carded rounds of 80 and 75, the latter being Guerrero's low score as a Renegade.
Prior to competing at BC, Guerrero was a team captain at Mission Oak High School in Tulare, Calif. During her prep career, Guerrero led the Hawks to a pair of East Yosemite League titles as a sophomore and a junior.
Yabut has added another strong member to her first recruiting class but she will still be looking to round out the 2022-23 team before next Fall. In the meantime, Yabut, Guerrero, and the rest of the 2021-22 CSUB squad will return to action in February, kicking off the Spring season with a pair of home events.
