`Runners to Host Dartmouth in Non-Conference Finale

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – After a six-day road swing through Texas and Colorado, the CSU Bakersfield men's basketball team is happy to be back home and preparing for its final non-conference game of the 2021-22 season. On Tuesday, Dec. 21, the Roadrunners will welcome the Ivy League's Dartmouth College to the Icardo Center for a holiday matinee game, CSUB's last before starting Big West Conference play at home on Dec. 30.

Admission to Bakersfield's game against Dartmouth will not require increased protocols, but CSUB Athletics will begin enforcing required proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test effective Jan. 1, 2022. For more information on these requirements, please visit GoRunners.com/AttendancePolicy.

CSUB (4-4) returns to Bakersfield looking to rebuild some momentum after a pair of road losses against tough foes. The `Runners battled Abilene Christian (8-2) last Wednesday, a squad that has won 20-straight home games and 46 of its last 51 contests on its home court, but CSUB eventually fell 69-59. On Saturday, the `Runners went toe-to-toe with the Pac-12's Colorado (9-3). Bakersfield held the Buffaloes to just 60 points but the `Runners lost 60-46.

Dartmouth (3-7) has come to town to wrap up its three-game California road trip. Playing over 2,500 miles away from their home of Hanover, N.H., the Big Green are looking to stop a six-game skid. Despite recent results, Dartmouth has been competitive during that stretch including a pair of overtime losses at Stanford and at Florida Gulf Coast.

The `Runners and Big Green will be meeting for the third time in their all-time series. Both of the prior meetings came in the Rod Barnes era (since 2011-12) and Bakersfield took a pair of close wins by single-digit margins. The last time the two teams clashed was on Dec. 20, 2017, in Hanover, when the `Runners held on to a lead late for a 64-60 victory.

Tuesday's game in the Icardo Center will tipoff at 2 p.m. (PT). Fans who are able to make the matinee can get tickets ahead of time at GoRunners.com/tickets or on Game Day at the box office. Those who are unable to attend in person can follow the `Runners live on ESPN+ or the CSUB Athletics YouTube account's live audio broadcast. Links to both broadcast options as well as live stats are available at GoRunners.com/Live.
