CSUB Falls in Utah Valley Dual

Ann Arbor, Mich. – Angelo Martinoni and Josh Brown posted victories at 141 and 149, respectively, staking CSU Bakersfield to an early 9-8 lead before Utah Valley rebounded for a 32-9 victory in a neutral site dual at California Baptist, Friday night. The Roadrunners fell for the second straight outing and drop to 0-2 on the young season, while the Wolverines improve to 4-1.

Martinoni trailed in the third before spinning UVU's James Emmer and sticking him early in the third frame for the `Runners first dual meet pin of the season. Martinoni improved to 2-0 on the year and won his fifth-straight dual meet bout.

Brown evened his dual meet record at 1-1 with a 12-6 decision over Alex Emmer.

Augustine Garcia and Albert Urias wrestled well in losses. Garcia fell to a Top-10 opponent for the third time this season, while Urias lost narrowly, 4-3.

NOTABLE…
* Martinoni picked up the fourth win by fall as a Roadrunner and earned the 19th victory of his career in the process.
* Brown won the first dual matchup of his CSUB career, improving to 1-1 as a starter.
* The Wolverines scored the final 24 points of the dual to overcome a 9-8 deficit through four matches.
