CSUB Sees Final Pair of WAC Road Contests

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The finish line is near, but with the third-placed team two games behind a tie for first and CSU Bakersfield's women's basketball team one game behind third; regardless of who wins the regular season – Vegas is going to be madness. CSUB closes its conference road slate with Rio Grande Valley and NM State. Both teams are one game behind the Roadrunners.

On Thursday, Bakersfield will look to even the series with RGV as the `Runners travel to south Texas before heading to Las Cruses, N.M. as they look for the first regular season sweep of NM State since joining the Western Athletic Conference in 2013.

Currently, Grand Canyon and Kansas City are tied for first in the conference. The Lopes and the Roos split their regular season matchups with each team collecting a win on the road. Looking at the rest of the league, only two games separate third-placed Utah Valley and seventh-placed NM State while California Baptist and Chicago State round out the standings.

CSUB is led in scoring by redshirt sophomore Jayden Eggleston's eleven points a game while sophomore Miracle Saxon paces the `Runners on the glass with seven rebounds each contest.

Second leading scorer, Ashley Austin missed the last five games with an illness but is expected to return to the active roster this week. For the first time in weeks Bakersfield will play with all eleven players expected to compete in Vegas next month.

Vanessa Austin boasts the highest field goal percentage on the team and third best in the WAC. CSUB's only senior, Dalis Jones, leads the league in assist/turnover ratio and ranks thirty-first in the NCAA.

Tip-off on Thursday is scheduled for 5 p.m. PT while the game on Saturday, originally set for a 1 p.m. PT start, has been moved to an 11 a.m. tip-off.
