Big Week Ahead in Icardo for Women's Basketball

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – There have been times that the CSU Bakersfield women's basketball team has looked like the league favorite and times the Roadrunners have struggled. Three weeks away from the regular season finale, the `Runners sit in a three-way tie for third and have both opponents they're in a deadlock with at home on their docket this week.

Thursday begins with a matchup between two of the hottest teams in the league as Seattle U will put their five-game win streak on the line against conference leader Grand Canyon who is riding a seven-game win streak.

The second game on Thursday will feature CSUB and Utah Valley. UVU will take a trip to the Icardo Center where they have yet to win since joining the Western Athletic Conference in 2013. Earlier this season, the `Runners took down the Wolverines on a buzzer-beating three-pointer from the hands of Andie Easley.

Bakersfield will host Seattle U on Saturday. The pair may still share the same conference record if each team picks up wins on Thursday. SU took a six-point advantage over the `Runners in their last meeting in Washington when CSUB shot 1-for-28 from three-point range.

CSUB is led in scoring by redshirt sophomore Jayden Eggleston's eleven points a game while sophomore Miracle Saxon paces the glass with nearly seven (6.6) rebounds each contest.

Second leading scorer, Ashley Austin has missed the last three games and remains on the inactive roster at this time. Redshirt sophomore Jasmin Dixon has missed the last six games from an ankle injury sustained in the win over Kansas City on Jan. 16. Dixon is expected to return this week.

Vanessa Austin boasts the highest field goal percentage (.548) in the WAC through non-conference and conference games while Dalis Jones leads the league in assist/turnover ratio and ranks twentieth in the NCAA.

Seedings for Vegas are still in the air as the gap between third and seventh place is only a game and a half apart.

Tip-off on Thursday is set for 7 p.m. while the game on Saturday is an early Noon start.
