CSUB Heads Midwest for CSU, Kansas City

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Even after four losses through nine league contests, CSU Bakersfield's women's basketball team is one of the Top 3 ranked teams in WAC standings. With Chicago State and conference leader Kansas City on its docket this week CSUB has another opportunity to inch closer to first.

It won't be an easy task for the Roadrunners in either venue. On a two-game losing skid, Bakersfield (13-9, 5-4 WAC) has to get past a Chicago State team with one win on the year – against them. Then quickly gear up for the Roos (15-9, 8-2 WAC) who will not only be looking for payback against the `Runners but are currently on a five-game win streak.

CSUB is led in scoring by redshirt sophomore Jayden Eggleston's twelve points a game while sophomore Miracle Saxon paces the team on the glass with nearly seven (6.7) rebounds each contest.

Second leading scorer, Ashley Austin missed last game and will remain on the inactive roster this week along with defensive specialist Jasmin Dixon who has missed the last six games from an ankle injury sustained in the win over Kansas City (1/16). Dixon is expected to return in two weeks.

Vanessa Austin is the only player in the conference to have played in every non-conference and conference game, average under twenty minutes and boast a field goal percentage above fifty percent. She leads the WAC in the category.

Dalis Jones has managed the Roadrunner offense well in her final campaign with Bakersfield. She leads the league in assist turnover ratio and is twenty-first in the country but averaging just three points per contest.

Head coach Greg McCall will need more offensive attempts from the lower block and more made baskets his guards in order to make up for not having sophomores Austin or Dixon on the floor.
