`Runners Ready For Pair Of Road Games

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield men's basketball team is preparing for a busy Christmas week as the Roadrunners have a pair of road games lined up before the holiday. CSUB is set to square off against Stanford in Santa Cruz, Calif. before taking on Pepperdine in Malibu, Calif.

"Both games are a challenge for us," said CSUB Head Coach Rod Barnes. "Both games are against high-level teams with great players. It's only going to make us better. We go into every game believing we can win. This time of the year, you want to get better."

On Monday, Dec. 21, the `Runners will meet Stanford for the third time in the all-time series. The Cardinal earned wins in each of the first two contests, but the two teams have not met since 2009. This season, Stanford is off to a 4-2 start with a win over No. 25 Alabama, a close loss against No. 14 North Carolina, and a three-point victory over Arizona on Saturday.

CSUB holds a 4-1 record in the all-time series against the Pepperdine Waves heading into Wednesday's contest. The two teams have not met since the 2011-12 season, Barnes' first at the helm of the `Runners. Pepperdine (4-4) already has eight games under its belt and suffered a home loss, 75-63, against Big West member UC Santa Barbara yesterday.

Tipoff against Stanford on Monday is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Warriors' G-League facility. On Wednesday, CSUB and Pepperdine will tip off at 3 p.m. from the Firestone Fieldhouse. Fans catch watch the nationally-televised game against Stanford on the Pac-12 Networks while a live broadcast from Malibu will be available on the WCC Network.
