`Runners Receive Votes in USA Today Poll

Bakersfield, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield baseball team is receiving votes in the USA Today Pre-Season Coaches Poll, released Friday afternoon. The Roadrunners are the lone Western Athletic Conference team represented in the poll and their seven points place them 44th in the country according to the national news organization's voting board.

The `Runners are receiving votes in the USA Today poll for the first time since 2011, when they garnered ten points to rank 37th on the heels of a ten-game winning streak.

Three CSUB opponents are also listed in the pre-season poll. Oregon State is ranked 25th with 70 points, while UC Santa Barbara and UC Riverside are also listed as receiving votes.

The USA Today poll is voted on by its board of coaches, which consists of 31 head coaches at DI baseball institutions across the country. The WAC's representative is Steve Joslyn, head coach at Chicago State University.

The `Runners season begins on Feb. 14, when they kick off a weekend series with the visiting Washington State Cougars at 7 p.m.
