Home and Away for Women's Soccer this Weekend



BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield women's soccer team welcomes Eastern Washington to Main Soccer Field tonight before Fresno State hosts the Roadrunners on Sunday.
 
"This weekend will provide a whole new set of challenges for our team," explained head coach Sebastian Vecchio. "I am looking forward to see how we respond to some adversity during the early stages of the season."
 
CSUB enters the third week of regular season with a 2-2 mark. Junior Eszter Toth and freshman Jaden Skinner lead the team in scoring with two goals each. Andrea Neves continues to be consistent in goal. She's been charged with leading a young back line that hasn't given up more than two goals twice this year.
 
Eastern Washington leads the all-time series and is coming off a 1-1 double overtime tie against Colorado State. The Eagles' lone win on the season was at Nevada in their season opener when EWU secured a 1-0 overtime win over the Wolfpack.
 
Bakersfield and the Bulldogs have battled for central valley bragging rights for years. Fresno State has handed the Roadrunners a loss all four times they've played at the Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium.
 
"We are excited to have another opportunity to compete in front of our fans, especially during ROWDY run," added Vecchio.
 
ROWDY RUN
An annual run at halftime for freshmen and new students to participate in. The first ROWDY Run was in 2012. Campus administration and student organization join in and run alongside the new Roadrunner class. Although the run is supposed to be more of a jog, expect a participate student-athlete or two to break out in a full sprint.
