Home Opener Features Idaho at Main Soccer Field

BAKERSFIELD, Calif – The CSU Bakersfield women's soccer team returns home to Main Soccer Field tonight for their second match of the 2019 season. Former conference foe Idaho takes the field in an attempt to give Bakersfield its first loss this year.

"This is the type of challenge we need to help this team get ready for conference play," said head coach Sebastian Vecchio.

Bakersfield and the Vandals haven't taken the field together in two seasons but CSUB is undefeated at home against them (3-0) and leads the overall series too (5-1). Sophie Freeman, Aryana Harvey, Eszter Toth, and Anesa Sasivarevic, now seniors, were all freshmen the last time the two teams met.

Toth and freshman Jaden Skinner lead the Roadrunners in scoring with one goal each on the season. Bakersfield is coming off a 2-1 win on the road at Pacific on Thursday and will host its next four contests at the Main Soccer Field.

"This game will provide a completely different test than what we face Thursday night against Pacific," said Vecchio. "They are a hard-working team, physical, with tough players all around."

The match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. on Sunday. Gates open an hour ahead of kick off.
