CSUB Closes Bryan Clay Invite on a High Note

AZUSA, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's men and women's outdoor track and field teams brought energy and effort from start to finish at the Bryan Clay Invitational this weekend. Three athletes reset or nearly reset personal-bests in their respective events with a duo of women leading the way.

Alejandra Frausto kicked the meet off for the Roadrunners on Thursday and recorded her second-fastest 5,000-meter time. Riley paced the women's team on Friday with a personal-best in the 400-meter hurdles (62.67) while Gabe Gaeta highlighted the men's side when he finished the 400-meter hurdles with his second-fastest time to date after missing several meets this for academic obligations.

"Bryan Clay Invitational is one of the most prestigious meets in the country," said Director of Track & Field, Marcia Mansur-Wentworth. "I'm pleased with the way we competed against excellent competition. We'll close the weekend at the Mt. SAC Relays tomorrow and prepare for one last meet before conference championships next month."

Curt Threlkeld takes on the 800-meter race tomorrow afternoon. He enters the field with the 43rd fastest time in the country, 22nd in the west region, and first in the conference.
