Beach Closes Regular Season at Northridge

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – It is the last weekend of the 2019 regular season for the CSU Bakersfield beach volleyball team. The Roadrunners will take on CSUN and Concordia University Irvine in Northridge on Friday afternoon in their final tune-up before the Big West Championship.

Last weekend at the Barnes Beach Volleyball Complex at the Student Rec Center, the `Runners (7-12) knocked off Ottawa University Arizona before falling to No. 13 Loyola Marymount.

Brooke Boiseau and Emily Hansen have been a new pair in the CSUB lineup and have been playing at the No. 4 position over the last two weekends. The duo is 3-4 in seven matches so far this year. Boiseau has nine wins on the season, which is tops on the team. Her first six victories on the year came with Krista Hernandez.

Cameron Solberg and Milica Vukobrat and Hana Makonova and Sidney Wicks have been the top two pairs for the Roadrunners this season. Both pairings have produced eight wins on the year. Solberg and Vukobrat have played exclusively at the No. 2 spot in the lineup, while Makonova and Wicks have played all their matches at No. 3. Senior Ally Barber has added seven victories as well, with six of them coming with Rafa Bonifacio.

Friday will be the fourth time meeting between CSUB and CSUN this season. The Matadors have beaten the Roadrunners in the last two meetings, but the `Runners won the season opener between the two conference rivals. Mattison DeGarmo and Briannah Mariner have faired well against CSUN, winning all three matches at the top spot in the order. Solberg and Vukobrat are 2-1 at the No. 2 position.

Concordia is 4-9 so far this year and owns a 3-2 victory over Nebraska. The Eagles have been off for a week and a half since losing to Oregon and Long Beach State. The NCAA Division II institution has wins over Vanguard, Cal State LA, Hope International and the Cornhuskers. CSUB and CUI's only other meeting came in 2016 with the Roadrunners claiming a 3-2 victory.

The Roadrunners will open the day with CSUN at 11:00 a.m. and will close the afternoon with a 1:00 p.m. date against CUI.
