Roadrunners Retain National Rankings

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield wrestlers Russell Rohlfing and Sean Nickell have maintained their national rankings from the previous week. Rohfling checks in at No. 20 in the FloWrestling Top 20, while Nickell is rated 17^th by InterMat and 18^th by FloWrestling.

On Sunday, Rohfling (15-8) nearly won by major decision for the sixth time this season, but came up one point short with an 11-4 decision over Wyoming's Jaron Jensen. The redshirt junior led 3-2 after the first three minutes by producing an escape and a takedown and pushed the lead to 5-3 with another takedown in the second. Rohlfing took control of the match in the third with two more takedowns in the final frame.

Nickell (19-8) was just 25 seconds away from the biggest win of his season, but couldn't hold on to the Cowboys' Montorie Bridges, who is a returning All-American and ranked 10^th in the nation. The redshirt senior led by two points late in the third period, but Bridges escaped his control and took down Nickell with 12 seconds left to earn the 10-9 decision.

Both Roadrunners are two-time national qualifiers.

The Roadrunners will compete for the final time at home on Saturday when they host Fresno State for the Feud on the Field at 1:00 p.m. Saturday's dual will be Senior Day on the Main Soccer Field. For tickets, call 661-654-BLUE.
