`Runners Wrap Up 2019 at No. 22 Texas Tech

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – One game remains on the CSU Bakersfield men's basketball non-conference schedule as the Roadrunners are gearing up for a tough challenge to close out 2019. CSUB will head to Lubbock, Texas for a Dec. 29 matchup against a talented Texas Tech team before jumping into Western Athletic Conference play the first week of January.

Texas Tech (8-3) is on a three-game win streak that began with a momentous victory over Louisville, then the No. 1-ranked team in the country. Most recently, the Red Raiders knocked off CSUB's fellow WAC member, UTRGV, on Saturday, Dec. 21. For its recent efforts, TTU made a return to the Top 25 in the most recent polls, ranking as high as No. 22. Texas Tech will be the second ranked squad CSUB faces this year after a November matchup with Gonzaga, which has risen to No. 1.

With momentum in hand, the Red Raiders will welcome Bakersfield to Lubbock in the middle of a five-game home stand. Freshman Jahmi'us Ramsey has returned to the TTU lineup after nearly a month off with a hamstring injury. The guard leads his squad with 17.0 points per game while four other Raiders average over 9.6 points a contest.

CSUB (6-8) has put together a two-game win streak after earning a hard-fought victory against Montana State and dominating Cal Poly in a road game. The `Runners will aim to end the 2019 calendar year with a victory against a strong opponent.

Bakersfield will look to its scoring leader, redshirt junior Taze Moore, to pace the `Runners in Texas. Moore is averaging over 12 points a contest and has the ability to fill the stat sheet, but the guard also gets help from an extremely deep CSUB bench. Bakersfield has eight `Runners averaging more than five points a game and the CSUB bench is averaging 43.5 points per game over the last two contests.

Sunday's game in Lubbock is scheduled for a 3 p.m. (CT) tipoff in the United Supermarkets Arena. `Runner fans can follow along through the television broadcast on Fox Sports Southwest, the online live stream, or the courtside CSUB radio broadcast. Links to all options, live stats, and tickets are available on the CSUB men's basketball schedule page.
