CSUB Closes Second Day at Trojan Diving Invite

LOS ANGELES – Lauren Carson led CSU Bakersfield for the second-straight day at the Trojan Diving Invite. The Roadrunners put forth a good effort in the 3-meter and platform against a very strong field of divers on Saturday.

A small group of `Runners competed in the women's 3-meter and men's platform as majority of Bakersfield's men had the day off.

In a stacked field of 36 divers, Bakersfield was unable to earn one of the Top 18 spots and advance to the finals. Carson, a native of Marysville, Wash., had the best score of the day for CSUB with 168.25 points in the prelims.

Freshman Madison Gray got some valuable experience competing against some of the top divers in the region. She had a 6-dive score of 124.8 in the 3-meter preliminaries.

Nathin Cummins got his feet wet for the first time this season in the men's platform as the sophomore posted a score of 168.65.

"Lauren and Madi finished their day on three meter," explained Diving Coach, Melissa Gore. "It was a very competitive meet and motivating for them to train harder these next few weeks."

"Nate competed in the tower with very minimal training this season," added Gore. "I saw a lot of great dives from him that will advance with more tower training throughout hte next few months."

The `Runner women will have the day off on Sunday, but the men will be back in the pool for the final day of competition. CSUB's men will see the 1-meter board tomorrow. For full results from the Trojan Diving invite, visit this link on DiveMeets.com.
