Three Earn All-WAC Nods, WAC First Round vs. UTRGV

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Western Athletic Conference announced its All-WAC women's soccer teams and major awards as selected by the league's nine head coaches. CSU Bakersfield had three athletes honored as senior Aryana Harvey and freshmen Jasmine Bowman and Chelsee Duran recognized at the WAC awards banquet.

Harvey finished the regular-season with six assists and one goal for a total of eight points. She tallied a game-winner and assist in the 3-2 win over conference foe Utah Valley on Oct. 6. Her goal and two assists from WAC play was good enough to land on the Second Team All-WAC list.

Bowman was the only defender to play in and start every match for the Roadrunners. She played in every minute of every league contest as the Bakersfield backline put together two shutouts in WAC and three overall. Bowman was named to the All-WAC Freshman Team for her efforts.

Duran was also named to the All-WAC Freshman Team. Duran played and started in all 19 matches for the Roadrunners. With four goals and three assists she is the team's second leading scorer with 11 points. Duran also has two game-winners on the season.

"I am very proud of Ary, Jasmine, and Chelsee," said Head Coach Sebastian Vecchio. "All three deserve this recognition as well as some other players on our team."

In his second season at the helm of the women's soccer program, Vecchio has totaled four All-WAC nods, has guided the Roadrunners to back-to-back WAC Tournament appearances and is one victory away from a winning record as the Roadrunners check in at 9-9-1.

A 2019 fourth-seed, Bakersfield sees UTRGV in the First Round of the WAC Tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 4 p.m. The Vaqueros stole a 1-0 shutout earlier in the season and took last year's First Round match in penalty kicks. A win over UTRGV would send the Roadrunners on to see Seattle U in the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 8.

"It is a privilege to be playing this late in the season," added Vecchio, "and I look forward to watch my team compete against a very good UTRGV team."
