Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

CSUB Shows Depth in 83-74 Win

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A slow start for CSU Bakersfield's women's basketball team in Tuesday night's season opener gave way to a strong finish at the Icardo Center. The Roadrunners shook off their pregame jitters after the first quarter and never looked back, easily handing Cal State Dominguez Hills an 83-74 loss.

Of the five Bakersfield players to finish in double figures tonight three did not play for CSUB last season. Graduate transfer Andie Easley led the way for CSUB, posting 15 points in 18 minutes played in the contest. Redshirt sophomore Jasmin Dixon had 12 points while Makenzie Bond, Jayden Eggleston and Miracle Saxon added 10 points each to round out Bakersfield's double-digit scorers.

Head Coach Greg McCall was able to use the game as an evaluating tool to test several combinations on the floor as all 12 players that suited up for CSUB got into the game.

Bakersfield outscored the Toros in quarters two, three and four and totaled 20 assists on the night behind Easley's six and Ashley Austin's five. Saxon and senior Dalis Jones each had three steals as the Roadrunners forced 12 steals to CSUDH's nine.

With the season opener victory under their belt, the `Runners have just two full days to prepare before heading North for a pair of tough road contests at Washington (Nov. 8) and Gonzaga (Nov. 10).
