CSUB to Host Two Contests this Week

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's women's basketball team returns home on Tuesday night with one objective – win. Bakersfield opens a six-game home stand with a pair of double headers with the men this week. The Roadrunners welcome North Texas before playing host to San Jose State on Friday afternoon.

CSUB is undefeated at home against a pair of non-Division I teams. This week will be the `Runners first challenge on the Kern Schools blue floor as the Mean Green and Spartans tallied wins on their respective home courts last season.

UNT is one of six teams on the Roadrunners non-conference docket that made a postseason appearance in 2019. The Mean Green made a run in the Women's Basketball Invitational but fell in the championship game.

San Jose State has totaled five wins, including a 95-88 win over Mid-Major Top 25's fourteenth pick Buffalo. SJSU's two losses on season were a two-point loss to UC Irvine and an eight-point game to Santa Clara who is receiving votes in the mid-major poll.

Tuesday will be the second time North Texas and CSUB meet, but the first time the Green Mean face the `Runners on their home floor. The matchup is slated for a 5 p.m. start with CSUB's men's team taking the floor at 7:30 or thirty minutes following the women's contest should the game go past 7 o'clock.

The day after Thanksgiving will be the seventh time Bakersfield and SJSU meet. The `Runners boast a perfect 3-0 record at home against the Spartans, but it's been four seasons since the 90-88 home win. Bakersfield leads the all-time series, but what started as a four-game win streak in favor of CSUB has turned into a two-game win streak for SJSU in the last two seasons.

Friday's matchup starts at 2 p.m. before CSUB's men's team follows later that night with 7 p.m. contest. The `Runners are offering a special Black Friday deal on concessions during the San Jose State game as fans will be able to purchase $1 hot dogs and $2 ice cream.
