Men's Basketball to Host Three Games This Week

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The rest of Bakersfield may be settling in for a three-day workweek and the Thanksgiving holiday, but the Roadrunner men's basketball team is preparing for a busy stretch with four home games over the next eight days. CSU Bakersfield will play host to Sam Houston State, Hampton, and San Diego Christian this week in the Icardo Center before hosting UC Santa Barbara on Dec. 3.

This week's action will kick off with a Nov. 26 game against Sam Houston State. The Bearkats won the Southland Conference regular-season title last season and competed in the National Invitational Tournament. IN 2019-20, SHSU looks to the scoring of Zach Nutall to lead the way as the sophomore guard averages 16.4 points per game on the year. The Kats are 2-3 and most recently struggled against the same San Francisco squad CSUB fell to on the road.

On Black Friday, fans will have the opportunity to root CSUB on against the Hampton Pirates. The Pirates are coming off a tough road lost against Illinois, but they have a dangerous offensive threat and they will present a big challenge for CSUB. Senior guard Jermaine Marrow boasts 26.0 points per game on the season for Hampton.

The `Runners will wrap up the holiday week with a matchup on Saturday, Nov. 30, against San Diego Christian. CSUB boats a 3-0 record all-time against its foe from the south and the `Runners have scored over 90 points per game in each of their last two meetings with the Hawks.

Tuesday's game against SHSU is part of another men's and women's basketball doubleheader. Tipoff for the men's game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Icardo Center. The `Runners are offering a special Black Friday deal on concessions during the Hampton game as fans will be able to purchase $1 hot dogs and $2 ice cream. Both Friday's and Saturday's contests are scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m.

Fans who are unable to make it to campus for these games can follow along online via the ESPN+ broadcasts. Links for live streams, radio broadcasts, and live stats are all available on the CSUB men's basketball schedule page.
