CSUB Hosts Buffalo, Roadrunner Open this Weekend

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Roadrunner wrestling team is preparing for a busy weekend ahead with a home dual (Nov. 22) and the Roadrunner Open (Nov. 24) on tap. CSU Bakersfield welcomes Buffalo to the Icardo Center for a match at 7 p.m. on Friday before twelve teams arrive for the daylong tournament starting at 9 a.m. on Sunday

Series History – Buffalo

Friday's match up marks just the second time in CSUB's history that the two squads have faced off. The first meeting came two seasons ago when the Roadrunners earned a 22-14 victory over the Bulls in New York.

Buffalo (1-2) is coming off a 37-3 win against LIU, but hasn't competed in the past two weekends. The Bulls two losses are to No. 4 Wisconsin and No. 24 Purdue.

`Runner Recap

The `Runners are looking for their first dual win of the season after suffering a pair of road losses to No. 6 Minnesota and North Dakota State then dropping the home opener to Rutgers last weekend, 12-24.

Redshirt freshman, Chance Rich enters this weekend's dual and tournament ranked 20th in the Open Mat poll. He will lead CSUB into battle at 133 on Bakersfield's home mat against Buffalo and is expected to be one of the higher seeds in the Roadrunner Open bracket.

The Match

Friday's match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Icardo Center. Tickets are available at the door on Match Day or ahead of time at GoRunners.com/tickets. Roadrunner Open

Sunday's tournament is all day and slated for a 9 a.m. start in both the Icardo Center and Old Gym. Participating teams include; Cal Poly, California Baptist, Columbia, Embry-Riddle, Fresno State, Gardner-Webb, Life Pacific, Menlo, San Francisco State, Simpson, Stanford and Vanguard.
