CSUB Sweeps on the Road

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's men and women's swimming and diving teams finished the California Baptist tri-meet with a winning record over CBU and Pomona-Pitzer as the Roadrunners went 2-0 on the afternoon and totaled over 15 first-place tallies and snagged a Western Athletic Conference win over the Lancers.

The men took control the second half of the meet after trailing by one point at the first break. Ryan Brimer, Loren Gillilan, Kris Rogic, Noah Hultner, Richie Campbell and Alex Rodriquez led the men in the pool while Sam Stinson continued to rock on the boards.

Loren Gillilan recorded three first-place finishes while Ryan Brimer had two and Kris Rogic had one.

Stinson finished second in both the 1- and 3-meter diving events with a score of 288.05 and 270.30, respectively.

"We did a different lineup today - switching Kris and Loren in some important events and it paid off for the `Runners," explained CSUB's Director of Swimming, Chris Hansen.

The women dominated from the beginning to the end. Mikayla Popham and Autumn D'Arcy lead the day with four wins each. Senior Jayssie Haynes swam outside her comfort zone to help secure the women's win as Hansen added: "she did it really well."

Tabea Mose and Maddie Cosgrove also had a big day. Mose led off for CSUB in 200-yard medley relay and helped the group win the event. She also had first-place finishes in the 100- (57.50) and 200-yard (2:08.02) back.

Crosgrove placed first in the 200-yard fly with a time of 2:04.07, fourth in the 100-yard free and started off in the Roadrunners' 400-yard free relay that posted a first-place time of 3:33.19.

The strong road performance from CSUB sets both teams up with a WAC win early in the 2019-20 season.
