CSUB Headed for Busy Week on the Road

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A quick trip home was short lived for the CSU Bakersfield men's basketball team as the Roadrunners are preparing for another busy week on the road. CSUB will bus to the Bay Area to play San Francisco on Tuesday, Nov. 19, before flying to Spokane, Wash. for a matchup against No. 7/8 Gonzaga on Saturday, Nov. 23.

The `Runners (2-2) faced a tough road opponent last week in UNI before returning home to tackle Life Pacific in the Icardo Center. Redshirt junior De'Monte Buckingham led the way for the `Runners on the week, averaging 14.0 points on 55 percent shooting, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 steals.

USF welcomes CSUB to the Bay Area with an unblemished, 4-0 record on the young season. The Dons opened the season with a three-game home stand, including a pair of victories over the Ivy League's Princeton and Yale. On Saturday, USF faced its first road test and came out on top with a 76-60 win against Southern Illinois. USF averages over 85 points per contest with double digit scoring coming from five different Dons.

Gonzaga also entered the week with a perfect, 4-0 record and will take on UT Arlington at home before hosting CSUB. The Bulldogs are coming off a statement win, defeating Texas A&M on the road, 79-49, and further enhancing their resume as a Top 10 squad. Gonzaga boasts an even more potent offense, averaging over 95 points a game so far. Serbian sophomore Filip Petrusev is a force in the paint as the 6-foot-11 forward posts 18 points and nine rebounds a contest.

Tuesday night's contest is slated for a 7 p.m. tipoff in San Francisco. `Runner fans can follow along with the WCC Network broadcast or via the radio broadcast on 1180 AM/96.1 FM KERN. On Saturday in Spokane, CSUB and Gonzaga will start their game at 5 p.m. with that contest also broadcasted via the WCC Network and KERN.
