CSUB Swim & Dive at CBU on Saturday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – On the back of a strong performance at home from both swim teams and a program Top 5 score in men's diving on the road two weekends ago, the CSU Bakersfield swimming and diving teams are looking to get back in the pool this weekend for their first tri-meet of the season. On Saturday, Nov. 2, the Roadrunners will be in Riverside, Calif. to race against California Baptist and Pomona-Pitzer.

California Baptist is a tough meet when we are on the road, for some reason, we have never really swam great at CBU's pool," said Chris Hansen, Bakersfield's Director of Swimming. "The good news is we are ready to break that curse after beating them at home last weekend."

Hansen went on to talk about the Sagehens: "Pomona Pitzer is a good team but we are not that worried about them – we want a WAC victory."

On the women's side, Hansen expects Mikayla Popham and Autumn D'Arcy to continue to swim at a high level as the duo have paced the team in their first three meets and each have a Western Athletic Conference Female Swimmer of the Week nods.

Hansen also expects Jayssie Haynes, Mia Bailey, Maddie Cosgrove and Maya Valdoria to help lead the way: "We need all the women to step up to make this an easy win."

On the men's side, Loren Gillian, Kris Rogic, Richie Campbell, Ryan Brimer and Antonio Milin will all have tough races but will need to dominate their field to help the younger `Runners step up to the plate. Hansen added: "Sam Stinson and Adam Estrella will also play a big part."

Stinson put big points on the board in his first collegiate meet on Saturday, Oct. 19. The freshman diver scored high enough to crack the program's 3-meter Top 5, checking in at third, and was awarded his first WAC Diver of the Week honor the following Tuesday.

Bakersfield, California Baptist and Pomona-Pitzer are scheduled to kick their tri-meet off at Noon in Riverside on Saturday. Full results and a recap will be available here on GoRunners.com that afternoon.
