Roadrunners Split First Weekend Of WAC Action

Box Score

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield women's soccer team fell short of three conference points on the road Sunday after a 4-0 decision at preseason conference favorite University of Missouri – Kansas City. Roadrunners fell 4-7-0 (1-1 WAC) while the Kangaroos improved 10-3-1 (2-0 WAC) on the year.

"It is good to get points on the road," said head coach Sebastian Vecchio. "But we didn't get as many as we came to get."

Kansas City opened scoring in the 14th minute of the contest when Reighan Childers tallied her sixth goal of the season off a blocked shot. Lexie Howard was credited the assist. Rylan Childers sent a banger to left post 10 minutes later to extend the lead 2-0 in the first half.

The Kangaroos added two more goals in the second half. Emily Jensen took a shot from 10 yards out and scored in the 79th minute while Ryann Burnett sent a shot to the left side of the net from 10 yards for the fourth and final goal of the match.

"You can't make as many mistakes as we mde against the number one team in the conference when you are on the road," added Vecchio. "They were the better team today and we did not want it bad enough."

Bakersfield goalkeeper Jordan Bertram faced 17 shots. She recorded a game and career-high 13 saves in the contest.
