Roadrunners Host Pacific In NonConference Closer

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield women's soccer team will close its nonconference slate on Friday, Sept. 21 when the Roadrunners (2-6) host University of Pacific (2-6) at Main Soccer Field. The contest is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

"The focus for us this weekend will be a good performance deserving of a win to go into conference play ready to compete at a high level," said first-year head coach Sebastian Vecchio.

Pacific has lost its last three games to Portland State, Cal State Northridge, and Hawai'i while Bakersfield is coming off a 2-0 loss against the Matadors and a 1-0 double-overtime victory over Saint Mary's (Calif.).

This will be the fourth time that CSU Bakersfield will face University of Pacific. The first meeting between both programs dates back to 2007 when the Tigers opened the series with a 2-0 shutout over the Roadrunners at home then stole a close 2-1 decision the following season at Main Soccer Field. Pacific took last year's meeting 2-0 and owns the all-time series 3-0.

"This game is the last chance to learn from our mistakes," added Vecchio. "It's another opportunity for our players to keep improving in the areas that we need them to improve in so when conference starts next week we'll know what it takes to be successful."

FAN ENGAGEMENT
Friday night will feature the first CSU Bakersfield Athletics Greek game of the year. Greek chapters are encouraged to come and support the women's soccer team by wearing their Greek colors and bringing their respective chapter paraphernalia.
