`Runners Head To UNLV For Labor Day Weekend Clash

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield women's soccer team found the right combination of success on the pitch Friday but must look ahead to the next opponent quickly. The Roadrunners will look to build on their momentum this weekend as they travel to Las Vegas for a 1 p.m. matchup with Mountain West Conference member UNLV on Sunday.

"We just need to continue to focus on ourselves right now, said first-year head coach Sebastian Vecchio when asked about Sunday's contest at UNLV. "For us it's just about getting better one game at a time defensively and offensively and finding the best combination that works for us going forward."

This will be the third consecutive season Bakersfield and UNLV have met and the fourth meeting all-time with the first match between the two clubs being played nearly a decade ago (2009). The Roadrunners fell by one-point differential in all previous meetings.

UNLV has tallied three wins, one loss, and one tie through its first five contests. The Rebels suffered a 2-0 loss at Southern Utah and tied 1-1 with Western Athletic Conference foe Utah Valley last week, but bounced back this week with a 3-1 victory at CSUN Thursday.

CSUB is coming off of a thrilling 1-0 victory against Southern Utah University. The win snapped a three-game losing streak as the `Runners improved 1-3-0 on the season.
