`Runner Volleyball Ready For Blue-Gold Scrimmage

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield volleyball team is preparing to kick off its season with the annual Blue-Gold Scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 18. The Roadrunners, who are the defending Western Athletic Conference Tournament Champions, will split into two squads and show their skills to fans with First Serve set for 6 p.m. in the Icardo Center.

Saturday's scrimmage is the first chance to see the 2018 edition of the `Runners and fans are encouraged to come out and support CSUB as the season gets started. Schedule posters will be given away to fans at the door, so, arrive early as quantities are limited.

After making stops in Taft, Delano, and Shafter, the CSUB Caravan will arrive in Bakersfield at Lengthwise at the Marketplace. Fans are encouraged to meet there at 4 p.m. to hear from new CSUB President Dr. Lynette Zelezny and select CSUB coaches talk about the year ahead. The Blue-Gold Scrimmage is then just a short walk or a quick drive away at 6 p.m.

Tickets for the Blue-Gold scrimmage are not required as the `Runners want fans to come and meet the team. Head Coach Giovana Melo and her coaching staff look forward to introducing this year's squad, which includes seven newcomers to go with 10 returning `Runners.
