Threlkeld Posts Season-best To Move Up Depth Chart

April 20, 2018

CLAREMONT, Calif. & AZUSA, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield's outdoor track and field teams showed personal grit this week at the Mt. Sac Relays and the Bryan Clay Invitational. With just one meet left before the Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, the Roadrunners are peaking at the right time this spring season.

Curtis Threlkeld placed ninth overall in the 800m in Claremont, Calif. The 6-foot sophomore ran a personal-best time of 1:51.79, ranks eighth on the program all-time depth chart and first in the WAC.

Ariana Mariscal continues to make positive strides this year after missing the last two seasons due to injury. The Bakersfield native ran a season-best time of 2:14.17 in the 800m in Azusa, Calif., besting her previous time by over 1.5 seconds.

Pole vault specialist, Julianne Finch, posted her eighth top five finish Friday at the Mt. Sac Relays. Despite headwinds, she finished third overall in her section after clearing the distance of 3.60m (11-09.75).

Tristan Watson just missed his personal-best in the 110m hurdles. The 6-foot-2 senior has shown great consistency running under 15.00 in the event for the sixth consecutive week.

Both teams will return to action next week in Fresno, Calif. at the Bulldog Invitational.
