Beach Volleyball Drops a Pair of Matches in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield beach volleyball team opened the day with an exhibition win over Long Beach City College 3-2, but were defeated by the University of Utah 4-1 and No. 6 Long Beach State University 5-0 to end the afternoon.

Aleksandra Djordjevic and Briannah Mariner (4-10) earned the lone victory of the match at the No. 3 position and garnered their fourth win of the season (21-17, 21-16). CSUB's No. 2 pair of Sarah Garrow and Desiree Sukhov (7-10) and its No. 4 pair of Mattison DeGarmo and Emily Lopes (8-11) took the Utes to three sets, but neither tandem was able to come away with a victory.

Tasha Skabelund and Hannah Manzanares won the exhibition match in straight sets (21-16, 21-17).

Playing in their third match of the day, the Roadrunners also ran into their most difficult opponent. The 49ers, ranked sixth in the country, defeated all five pairs in straight sets.
