‘Runners Open WAC Tourney Thursday Vs. Utah Valley

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners will travel to Las Vegas this week to embark on their fifth Western Athletic Conference Tournament run, this season as the No. 7 seed as they open with No. 2 Utah Valley at 2:30 p.m.

The 'Runners (12-17, 6-8 WAC) will be looking for their second WAC Tournament Championship when play begins on Thursday against the Wolverines (21-9, 10-4 WAC), a team they defeated 81-80 in four-overtime periods a year ago in the semifinals.

The squad enters the WAC Tournament having won two of their last five games. Bakersfield recently dropped their regular-season finale last Saturday at Grand Canyon (20-10, 9-5 WAC) in a 68-81 decision, splitting the regular-season series. If CSUB advances on Thursday, they could rematch with the No. 3 seed GCU who takes on No. 6 UMKC at Noon prior to the Roadrunners' game.

Utah Valley enters Thursday's matchup posting their first 20-win season since the 2013-14 season and have won four of their last five games.

Thursday's game will tip at 2:30 p.m. Pregame radio coverage begins at 2:00 p.m. from courtside and will be available on 1230 AM/98.1 FM ESPN Sports. Fans can also watch the game live on ESPN3.
