`Runners Set To Host 4th Annual Duel With CSUN At BCC

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – After a few days of rest following a busy stretch of the season, the CSU Bakersfield women's golf team is preparing to host its annual home duel on Monday, Mar. 26. The Roadrunners will square off against CSUN at Bakersfield Country Club at noon in a single-round of golf action.

"We are looking forward to hosting CSUN on Monday," said Meghan Thomason, CSUB's Director of Golf. "I feel like our teams are evenly matched, so, it should be a close battle. This has been a historic season for CSUB women's golf, so, we are looking forward to displaying our talent to the Bakersfield community. The public is welcome to come out and watch."

The 2018 meeting between the `Runners and Matadors is the fourth annual duel between the two teams. CSUN had won the first two matchups before Bakersfield earned a one-stroke victory in last season's duel.

In the 2016-17 season victory, then-junior Tori Peers paced the `Runners with a three-over-par 76. This season, CSUB will have eight women competing with three golfing as individuals. CSUN will also send a pair of individuals along with their five-person starting squad.

Monday's single round is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at noon. The home event is CSUB women's golf's "Golden Game" and the 'Runners are hoping for fans to cheer them on. Fans wishing to head to Bakersfield Country Club to watch the competition are welcome to do so, but are asked to adhere to country club dress code.
