Fresno State Defeats CSUB 77-66 In WBI First Round

Box Score BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Fresno State (17-14) defeated CSU Bakersfield (18-14) 77-66 in the first round of the Women's Basketball Invitational Mar. 14 at the Icardo Center.

Four Bakersfield players finished in double-figures. Jazmine Johnson scored 16 points to lead CSUB. The 5-7 guard went 7-for-15 from the field and grabbed a team-best seven rebounds. Malayasia McHenry had 11 points, while Alexxus Gilbert and Vanessa Austin chipped in 10 apiece to round out the 'Runners double-digit scorers.

Fresno State was led by Candice White's 29-point performance. Kristina Cavey and Aly Gamez put up 15 and 12 points, respectively for the Bulldogs. CSU Bakersfield converted 24 points off 20 forced turnovers, but the Bulldogs took a slight edge in the rebounding category (42-39).

The 2017-18 season marked the third-time CSU Bakersfield played in the WBI and the third postseason appearance in the last five seasons (2014 WNIT, 2015 WNIT). The program now holds a 3-3 record in the WBI.
