`Runners Return To Icardo Center Tuesday Night

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – For the first time since Nov. 9, the Roadrunner men's basketball team will play in the Icardo Center as CSU Bakersfield prepares for a home game on Dec. 4. After a quick turnaround from their trip to South Dakota, the `Runners will return to the Kern Schools Court for a contest against UC Merced on Tuesday.

The Bobcats will come to the Icardo Center with a 6-2 record on the season. UC Merced, a member of the NAIA's Cal Pac Conference, are coming off a 22-point victory over Bethesda last Wednesday. Merced does not have a particularly high-scoring offense as the Bobcats average 74 points a contest, but the squad holds its opponents to just 64 points a game on the defensive end. Jonah Cottrell is the team's leading scorer, averaging 11.1 points a game thus far.

CSUB (3-4) is coming off a tough loss at South Dakota on Saturday. The `Runners are 1-0 on their home court this season after nearly breaking the school's scoring record against Antelope Valley in November. A well-rounded CSUB offense features five `Runners scoring 9.0 points per game or more while redshirt senior Damiyne Durham leads the way with 12.5 points per contest.

Tuesday's home game is set for a 7 p.m. tipoff in Bakersfield. Fans are encouraged to come out and cheer the `Runners on to victory over the Bobcats. Those who do come out to the game will be treated to a special performance by the Halftime Dogs, an act that does daring Frisbee tricks.
