Track & Field Sign Central Valley Standout To 2020 Roster

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – CSU Bakersfield women's track and field inked its third future Roadrunner during the early signing period. Marcia Mansur-Wentworth, Director of Track and Field, has announced the signing of Mallory Elick to a National Letter of Intent.

"I feel Mallory will have an immediate impact on our program," said Mansur-Wentworth. "She embodies all of the qualities you would look for in the 'ideal student-athlete'."

Elick, 5-foot-10 high jumper from Tulare, Calif., will graduate Tulare Union High School this spring and compete for Bakersfield during the 2020 indoor and outdoor seasons. She has enjoyed a prolific prep career with the Tribes as she has garnered numerous accolades for her performance on and off the track.

As a freshman, Elick was conference champion in the high jump and third in the 100-meter hurdles. She finished in the top 10 in high jump at Grand Masters Valley Meet then placed four spots higher the following season and won conference titles in both high jump and the 100m hurdles.

Elick set the bar last season with a third-place finish at the Grand Masters Valley Track Meet, a three-peat conference title in high jump, back-to-back champion in the 100m hurdles, and CIF area meet champion in high jump. She capped the year off with a first-place high jump finish at the Mt. Sac Relays Meet and owns the school high jump record at 5'6" and the 100m hurdles record with a time of 16.23.

In the classroom, Elick has been an honor roll student for the last three years and enters her final run as a high school student athlete.
