CSUB Men's Basketball To Clash With South Dakota

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The last of a five-game road stretch has arrived as the CSU Bakersfield men's basketball team is headed for Vermillion, S.D. this weekend. The Roadrunners will take on South Dakota in the Sanford Coyote Sports Center this Saturday, Dec. 1, before returning to the Icardo Center for CSUB's first home game in nearly a month on Dec. 4.

"South Dakota is a good team," Rod Barnes said during his weekly press conference. "We got a chance to see a little of them down in The Bahamas…It's a tough trip [to Vermillion], always a tough place to play. We have to keep playing well…This is a process that we're working on and now we've got to put our heads down."

South Dakota (3-3) is coming off a tough, road loss at the hands of Baylor. The Coyotes led the Bears for 30 minutes in the game, but a late surge gave Baylor a 63-57 victory. USD looks to a pair of potent scorers in Trey Burch-Manning (17.5 points per game) and Triston Simpson (15.0 points per game) to pace the Coyotes offense. Junior guard Tyler Peterson chips in 10.5 points and 6.2 rebounds a contest as well.

CSUB (3-3) is looking to get its third win in the last four games during the trip to Vermillion. A two-game win streak was snapped after a hard-fought loss at USC on Sunday, but the `Runners gained valuable experience against the Trojans.
Bakersfield's deep bench has provided a wide variety of options for Coach Barnes as CSUB's leader has played ten `Runners an average of 11 minutes or more per game. Redshirt senior Damiyne Durham leads his squad with 13.4 points per contest while five `Runners are scoring in double digits on the year.

Saturday's game in South Dakota is set for a 3:30 p.m. (CT) tipoff. The `Runners and Coyotes will square off on the ESPN networks via WatchESPN.
