Roadrunners Drop Hard Fought Match In Orem

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. –The CSU Bakersfield women's soccer team tabbed their fourth conference loss on Friday in a 3-0 shutout against defending Western Athletic Conference tournament champions Utah Valley. The Wolverines improved to 4-10-1, 3-1 WAC while the Roadrunners fell 4-10-0, 1-4 WAC.

"We fought hard and never gave up," said head coach Sebastian Vecchio.

Utah Valley opened scoring in the 13th minute of the contest when Alexis Peterson headed a pass to her feet and found the back of the net. Peterson's goal would hold in the first half. Redshirt sophomore keeper Cass Tymchen had a game-high four saves through the first 45 minutes of action.

UVU got its offense going again in the second half when Alex Peterson sent a ball into the top left corner for her second goal of the match. Sadie Brockbank tallied the third and final Wolverine goal at the 65:42 minute mark. The Roadrunners were relentless and looking to attack for a full 90 minutes, but were unable to anything at the back of the net.

Bakersfield goalkeepers Cass Tymchen and Lucy Gomez combined for six saves on 14 shots faced while Aryana Harvey took a team-high three shots.

"This team is giving me everything they have and results will start to go our way soon enough," added Vecchio.

CSU Bakersfield women's soccer will travel to Riverside, Calif. on Friday for a 3 p.m. tilt against California Baptist University (10-3-1, 3-2 WAC). The Lancers are coming off a 1-0 loss to Kansas City. Friday's match will be stream here, while live stats will also be available here.
