CSUB Travels To Orem, Utah For Single Contest

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield women's soccer team will travel to Orem, Utah this weekend for a Friday night contest against defending Western Athletic Conference tournament champions Utah Valley University.

"We're getting better each day in the things that we do and how we execute them," said head coach Sebastian Vecchio.

This will be 11th time that Bakersfield has faced Utah Valley. The first meeting between both programs was nearly a decade ago on Oct. 23, 2008 when the Roadrunners opened the series with a 3-1 win. The Wolverines stole a 1-0 shutout at Main Soccer Field last season and owns the all-time series.

UVU (3-10-1, 2-1 WAC) opened conference play with a 3-0 shutout over NM State then fell 3-1 to UT Rio Grande Valley. The Wolverines bounced back with a 6-0 decision against Chicago State last weekend.

CSUB (4-8-0, 1-2 WAC) split its first two league contests on the road with Chicago State and Kansas City then dropped two contests against Seattle U and UTRGV at home last weekend.

"We've had success on the field when our girls commit to playing their roles and our style of soccer for 90 minutes," added Vecchio. "We just need to continue to stay with the game plan and remain hungry."
