`Runners Set For Loyola Marymount & UC San Diego

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield women's swimming and diving team will look to get back to their winning ways when they travel to Los Angeles on Saturday, Jan. 6 for a tri-meet with UC San Diego and Loyola Marymount at Noon.

"UCSD will be tougher then LMU, but both are strong teams," said Chris Hansen, head coach of swimming and dive. "Alyssa, Jayssie, Isabella and Maddie have been dominate all season long and to win both meets we need all the women to step up. This will be a close meet."

Last season, CSUB defeated UC San Diego 165-134 and also defeated Loyola Marymount 228-63.

The `Runners are coming off a tough 155-143 home loss to San Jose State on New Year's Eve, but the `Runners continue to get impressive outings from Jayssie Haynes and Maddie Cosgrove

Haynes, a sophomore from San Jose, continues to re-write the `Runners record book and is even making waves in events she does not specialize in.  Haynes won the 1000 freestyle against San Jose State, an event the sophomore does not specialize in and did it in record fashion by swimming the fourth fastest time in CSUB history.

Cosgrove, a native of San Diego, blew away the competition in the 200 fly against San Jose State and also placed second in the 100 freestyle.

After the meet this weekend, the `Runners will get two weeks off before traveling to Fresno for a date with Fresno Pacific.
