BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – "It was a great win and a great way to honor seniors
Audrey Willoughby,
Gabi Liedy and
Donna Rotella,"
Chris Hansen, CSUB's Director of Women's Swimming, said after the CSU Bakersfield women's swimming team finished their regular season with a victory over UC Santa Cruz. The `Runners would defeat UC Santa Cruz in dominating fashion and earn the 215-77 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Coach Hansen was smiling ear to ear when talking about the effort of this team today. "The women swam great today. Jayssie continued to dominate in yet another event - becoming the fastest 1000 and 1650 freestyler in school history. Other great performances came from
Maddie Cosgrove in the 200 and 500 Freestyles, as well as
Lucy Peltz in the 500 Free.
Hannah Chernabaeff also had another big day on the boards winning both events."

Coach Hansen does have a tough decision to make next month with one Roadrunner that has rewritten the CSUB record book and remember, Jayssie is only a sophomore. "Haynes broke two school records today and we have to decide what events she will swim at the WAC (Western Athletic Conference) Championships. Jayssie's year has been one that everyone should learn from."
The `Runners will now start training and preparing for the WAC Championships that will be held in Houston, TX from Feb. 21-24.
