BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield men's and women's swim teams will travel an hour or two up the highway for a meet against Fresno Pacific on Saturday Jan. 20 at 12 p.m.
The Roadrunner men are coming off a heartbreaking six point loss to future Big West rival UC San Diego. The meet was tied going into the last two events, something
Chris Hansen, CSUB's Director of Swimming, had not seen in his ten years at the helm.
Last season, the `Runners and the Sunbirds met at just about this same time as last year and FPU came out on top 173-121. But CSUB continues to get extremely strong efforts from Croatian senior
Lovre Soric and the rest of the `Runners, and because of the depth of this squad, this year's result may be entirely different.
The CSUB women's team is coming off a split of a tri-meet in Los Angeles where the 'Runners lost to UC San Diego, but defeated Loyola Marymount 238-50. The `Runners defeated FPU last year in a tight dual, 161-139 and will be looking to make it six victories in six years over the Sunbirds on Saturday.
The `Runners are led by US Nationals invitee
Jayssie Haynes, sophomore from San Jose. Haynes continues to show the work she put in this summer by her times in all events she competes in.
Both teams will only have one more meet before the Western Athletic Conference Championships in Houston, TX from Feb. 21-24.
