CSUB Returns Home To Continue WAC Streak

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – With a perfect 2-0 record for CSU Bakersfield's volleyball team in Western Athletic Conference play, the Roadrunners are hoping to add two more wins at home this week. Bakersfield will host Seattle U on Thursday, Sept. 28, and Utah Valley on Saturday, Sept. 30.

"We are very excited to be playing at home this weekend," said Giovana Melo, Director of Volleyball at CSUB. "We have two big challenges ahead of us. I can't wait to see us go to battle."

This week's challenges will begin with Seattle U, which has one WAC match under their belt with a current record of 4-10. The Redhawks are coming to Bakersfield with a losing streak of three and will face a tough `Runners team with an 8-8 overall record. Leading the Redhawks and ranked second in the WAC for kills is sophomore Katarina Marinkovic with 3.70 kills per set.

On Saturday, CSUB will match up against Utah Valley. The Wolverines will return confidently to the Icardo Center, only losing four student-athletes from last season in which UVU took two five-set matches against the `Runners. The Wolverines (6-10) will play Grand Canyon before coming to the Icardo Center. Currently Utah Valley is 1-0 in the WAC and is led by top returner Madison Dennison, ranked first in the WAC with 3.29 blocks per set.

The first home match is on Thursday is schedule for 7 p.m. and Saturday's match will welcome an afternoon start time at 12 p.m. in the Icardo Center. `Runners fans should come loud and proud, but for those who cannot attend the home matches, live stream and stats will be available via WAC Digital Network.
