Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Wrapp Reaches Milestone With A Roadrunner Victory

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.- CSU Bakersfield's men's basketball team played in front of its third sell-out "Education Day" crowd of over 3,000 school children on a field trip. The Roadrunners took a 100-71 victory over Life Pacific at the Icardo Center.

CSUB came out firing in the first half, scoring seven points in the first three minutes before the Warriors laid out a three-pointer to keep the `Runners on their toes. Bakersfield quickly answered back and dominated offensively, shooting 66.7% (18-27) from the field and 60% behind the arc to take a 15-point lead, 50-35, at the half.  Freshman Jarkel Joiner led all players with 18 points while senior Shon Briggs had 9 points, one rebound, assist and steal.

The `Runners were not done yet and continued to give the school children a show through the second half. CSUB matched their score from the first period to make it an even 100 points behind double figures from four `Runners.

Redshirt senior Brent Wrapp, who reached 501 career points today, added 10 assists to bring his career total to 432. Wrapp became just the second `Runner in CSUB history to score 500 points and have 400 assists. The native of Boulder, Colo. is closing in on CSUB's record for most careers assists of 520 by Kenny Warren. If Wrapp keeps his average of 5.5 per game this season, he will successfully top the list.

Bakersfield ended the second half holding the Warriors scoreless over the final 3:00. Redshirt senior Fallou Ndoye scored 13 of CSUB's 50 points during the second half. CSUB never trailed in the game and built a 33-point lead in the second half and they converted 10-of-24 from three-point range. The `Runners held Life Pacific to just 44% (26-of-59) from the field in the game and outscored the Warriors 46-16 in the paint.

Joiner led the `Runners with 20 points and had two rebounds while Briggs ended the day with 19 points, six rebounds, and one assist. Two more `Runners hit the double-digit mark: Ndoye (15 points and 13 rebounds) and redshirt Damiyne Durham (17). As a team, Bakersfield finished the game making 59% of its field goals (36-of-61) and got 41 of its points from the bench.

The `Runners (5-6) will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 9 for their "Holiday Hoops" game at the Icardo Center against Idaho with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
