BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The CSU Bakersfield men's basketball team will travel to Razorback country for a battle against Southeastern Conference's Arkansas on Wednesday, Dec. 27 to finish up non-conference play in the regular season.
The `Runners will look to bounce back from a loss at Delaware back on Dec. 20, but prior to that road game CSUB had reeled off three consecutive wins. The guard play has been the key for the `Runners recent run of success.
Brent Wrapp is now healthy and his historic senior season is starting to take shape. Junior
Rickey Holden is consistently filling up the entire stat sheet and freshman
Jarkel Joiner is getting more comfortable game by game and is showing why he finished fourth in the country in scoring his senior year in high school.
The Razorbacks come into the game with a 9-2 record and are not ranked in the Top 25 nationally, but they are as close as you can get. Arkansas is the first team outside the Top 25 AP poll and the second team outside the USA Today Coaches poll.
Arkansas is led by senior Jaylen Barford's 18.5 points a game and the Razorbacks have won four in a row, including a 95-79 victory over No. 14 Minnesota back on Dec. 9.
After the road trip to Arkansas, the `Runners will open Western Athletic Conference play on the road at Utah Valley on Saturday, Jan. 6.
Tipoff in Fayetteville, Ark. will be at 7 p.m. Central Time, 5 p.m. Bakersfield time and the game will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
