BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – After an undefeated three game home stand, the CSU Bakersfield men's basketball team will travel cross country to play the 5-6 Delaware Blue Hens on Wednesday, Dec. 20.
The `Runners won their last three games (all home games) in a nine day span, including impressive wins over Idaho and the most recent victory, Georgia Southern. Georgia Southern came to the Icardo Center in Bakersfield on Saturday, Dec. 16 ranked 15
th in the college insider mid major's Top 25 poll. The `Runners defeated GSU 55-53 in what was surprisingly a defensive battle and with that victory the `Runners are 7-6 on the season.
Delaware is coming off a 68-59 overtime victory their last time out against in state rival Delaware State. But in the previous four games prior to the victory over Delaware State, the Blue Hens had lost four consecutive games, including a home loss to the ninth ranked team in the country, Notre Dame. Sophomore Ryan Daly is leading the Blue Hens in points and rebounds (17p, 7r) and is what makes Delaware go offensively.
CSUB Head Coach
Rod Barnes continues to show off his depth game in and game out. Barnes routinely plays 10-11 `Runners a game and that really lets the seven year Head Coach of CSUB play the hot hand at the end of tight games. The `Runners have four players averaging double digits in scoring and have six players averaging three rebounds or more a game.
After the game in Delaware, the `Runners will get a week off before finishing up non-conference play at Arkansas on Dec. 27.
The game at Delaware will tip-off at 7 p.m. EST/4 p.m. Bakersfield time.
